A man who can commit such violence on himself, and allegedly did so on a comrade is not safe to be let loose with any weapon. THe chances are there was some kind of fling, and then a possibility that the whole affair could be exposed. Considering this could break the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy in the US military, the man could not only lose what he saw as his reputation, but also his career. Killing the man seems like a strong thing to do, but he obviously then took himself out of the frame before all this came to caught where he knew he could finally be exposed as gay. This may all be total theory and conjecture, but it fits the picture pretty well. What he did was wrong, but don't just dismiss the man. I think there is probably more to this than meets the eye.
