While the romance is very heteronormative, it is very amusing het romance nevertheless. The film is very faithful to the book, although they had to miss things out given the length of the book. The tension is maintained throughout and there is no shortage of thrills. The acting is excellent - the younger actors are getting better and better! I also loved Jim Broadbent as Horace Slughorn. Even though I knew what was coming, having read the book, the ending still left me shocked and desperate to see the next instalment! Saw this film last night with my girlfriend and loved it! One thing which always makes me laugh about all Harry Potter reviews is how all the critics and writeups constantly remind us "this one is much darker than the last one". I'm imagining the final film in the series will be a totally jet black screen for 2 hours, like the cover of Spinal Tap's "Kiss the glove" album. "None more dark...!"
